Mount Olive inmates injured in head-on collision in Nicholas County

Four inmates at the Mount Olive State Prison were injured in a Monday morning traffic accident on state Route 39 in Nicholas County. 
Nicholas County Sheriff's Department Deputies said the inmates were in a van traveling from Slayton Work Camp on the campus of Mount Olive State Prison to the DOH garage in Summersville when the it was struck head-on by a passenger car at 7:45 a.m. near the Peters Creek intersection. 
The driver of a car, William Hanshaw, of Summersville, slammed into a tractor trailer and then into the inmate van. 
Hanshaw was taken by ambulance to Charleston. 
The driver of the van, corrections officer Aramand Brouillard, of Belva, and one of the inmates were treated and released from Charleston Area Medical Center. Three other inmates were taken to the Summersville Medical Center after suffering minor injuries.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
